I need hair color help!?

i wanna try something new but not sure how to find the shades that match me. i was thinking like maybe dying my whole head some kinda brown and adding blonde or some kinda golden highlights. i mean i definitely wanna try adding some blonde cuz i never tried that before. i'm half asian half white and wondering if it might work. and i hope people wont think im weird.

I have naturally black hair. I have highlights all over that are from golden blonde to platinum blonde in the front. This took a long time, a lot of trips to my colorist. She did not do it over night. I HAVE to get it done every 6 weeks. You need to be able to commit financially as well, otherwise it will look like crap if you have long roots. Go to a very good colorist - when you go to the salon see who all other hairstylists get their hair colored from and go to him/her.

I was afriad to dye my hair red once, since my hair is naturally dark brown you could only see it in the light so I dyed it black

I think dark brown with light brown highlights is ok but i think the blonde highlights would make u look "fake".

whatever you choose to do, make sure you pick shades that are ashy (like if you choose a brown color) and not brassy (if you add any blonde). Your skin has a cool tone to it, so you don't want any warm colors...no caramels or brassy blonde highlights. I hope this helps!

Weird no, not at all. Depends on if you are going to have it done by a professional or @ home if you go to a salon have ask them to foil in Caramel and blonde very Pretty!! But if you do it at home it would be easier to Just color it all over with the caramel color and then have someone pull it through a cap this would be pretty also!! You can find everything you need if you go to a sally's store or any beauty supply,. Hint ashy colors put gray tint to your hair, advice dont go with any ashy color as you were told by someone else.

The best place to get great answers for this is your local hairstylist. I know highlights can be rather expensive (especially if you plan on going more then one tone) around 90-120 is on the lower end! (at least in the philadelphia area). A hairstylist will be able to tell you the best match to go with your skin tone. Some people opt to get highlights just around the face, that usually is less expensive.

I usually suggest not to do it yourself if you have never done it before. If you arent careful it will come out chunky and fake looking.

One more note: Highlights are a commitment. Be prepared to keep up on them regularly.
