I am an asian but I have very light brown hair?

I want to dye my hair black coz I love jet black hair. I dyed it once but after a while, people could see the brown roots of my hair. If I dye my hair continuously, it wil damage my hair. So shall I dye my hair black again?

By the way, my hair color is as brown as a brunette mix with a little bit of red strands. It's in the genes.

do you think asians look better with brown or black hair?

leave it the way it is. i am a red head and my ex wife is chinese. my girls all have cinamon highlights in their hair. they are continuously told how radiant and beautiful their hair is. their asian friends would kill for some color in their hair and actually put high lights in their own, to add some color. if anything, you might want to run a comb with a spashing of hydrogen peroxide on it, to bring out the red.

take a look at any popular asian (japanese, chinese, philippine) movie star or tv show and you will see they are constantly dying their hair to make it more colorful.

a bit brown

i think asians can look good either way. i used to have a friend that was asian with brown hair and she looked very pretty. i wouldnt worry too much about the color of your hair.

it you want it dyed maybe try a richer dark brown so the roots dont show as much or try black with lighter brown highlights to help blend in the roots as they grow out. if you get your hair professionally dyed and take care of it, it shouldnt damaged your hair very much.

just my opinion. hope this helps.

I think it would damage your hair, if you dye it continuously. I think that you should go to a salon, because they could do it better, because it's their job and all.

Then you should get some color enhancing shampoo, and you need to use lots of conditioner as well.

I think that it doesn't matter what color their hair is, as long as it looks good on them with their style and all that.

As black is most common, the exception of lighter hair is attractive to me.

What about a rinse? It would come out much sooner than a dye, and maybe do less damage. Go to a health food type store, one that sells cosmetics, and ask about their hair dyes. They're expensive, but perhaps waaay less damaging.

Either brown or black would be okay, but my brother's girlfriend who is Asian dyed her hair black and it looks really nice!

To answer your first question, I think you should stop dyeing your hair before it gets damaged, because when it does, the color will be the least of your problems. Damaged hair will look and feel terrible, whether it's jet-black or brunette. You could try looking into henna, or those conditioners that contain bits of coloring in them. These are not permanent and gentler than the usual hair dyes available commercially.

Better yet, why not try going with your natural hair color? You might like it better if you give it a chance, and who knows, it just might be the best hair color for you. So many Asians are trying to look Caucasian by dyeing their hair brown or blond, by making their skin whiter, by using colored contact lenses, etc. Why not take advantage of your genetic gift of brown locks?

For your second question, it depends on the person's features. Generally, black hair works well with Asians because it jives with most of the common Asian features, like skin tone, texture, width of the head and face, etc. It works whether you're dark-skinned or fair, as compared to blond or brown for example, which might clash or be too jarring for certain skin types or might make a small face seem even smaller. That said, there are Asian people who look better with brown, healthy-looking hair.
